Regular primary and preventive care are extremely important in maintaining health and a high quality of life. Our professional and experienced medical team provide care for routine, urgent and chronic needs for patients of all ages.

Pediatrics

Pediatrics

Our medical team is focused on providing the best care possible for your child. Services include:

  • Well visit care
  • Routine developmental screenings
  • Chronic childhood illnesses
  • Sports physicals
  • Routine vaccinations

For a detailed immunization schedule, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention If your child experiences any of the following, it is best to go to an emergency room.

  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Persistent vomiting
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Loss of consciousness or seizures
  • Poisoning (Poison Control – 800.222.1222)
  • Severe injuries
  • High fever, or fever in children less than 2 months of age.

Little River Medical Center offers confidential services for teens. We offer pregnancy tests and counseling, birth control, STI testing and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, and emergency contraception.

Adult Medicine and Geriatrics

Adult Medicine and Geriatrics

Our team of internists and board certified geriatricians specialize in internal medicine and provide primary care for all stages of adult life. Services include:

  • On-site lab services
  • Digital mammography
  • X-ray
  • Bone-density
  • Diabetes management
  • Nutritional counseling

A range of screenings are available to help identify disease risk early. Depending on your age and gender, these may include screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, breast and cervical cancer, prostate cancer, sexually transmitted infections, depression, and osteoporosis. Women's Health

Women’s Health

Women have unique health needs and we provide services that meet the gynecological health needs of women at most stages of their life. Little River Medical Center offers routine pelvic examinations, pap smears, colposcopy, screening and treatment for gynecological infections, family planning, and menopausal services. On-site digital mammography is available at our Little River location.

Reproductive Health

Reproductive Health

Reproductive health and sexuality are a fundamental part of overall health and well-being.  In 2017, LRMC started an initiative to increase awareness and access to birth control, including emergency contraception and highly reliable methods such as contraceptive implants and the IUD.  Our specially trained team at Little River Medical Center is committed to providing confidential and affordable family planning services for male and female adults and adolescents through specialized clinical services and health education.  Teens receive confidential services, and parental consent is not needed. 

The specially trained reproductive health services staff includes:

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners
  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
  • Medical Assistants (MA)
  • Community Education Specialists
  • Family Medicine Resident Physicians
  • Program Managers
  • Office and Clerical Support

Services include:

  • Pregnancy prevention information and services
  • No-cost and low-cost birth control
  • Sexual health counseling
  • HIV counseling and testing
  • Screening services breast and cervical cancer.
  • Screening and treatment services for sexually transmitted infections
  • Pregnancy testing and family planning
  • Community education and outreach
  • LGBTQ friendly service

Services are available for all individuals regardless of race, national origin, sex, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital or economic status.  All services are by appointment and can be scheduled by contacting the program coordinator at 843.602.6904

All fees for services requiring payment are based on family size and income. Additional payment options include:

  • Healthy Connections Family Planning
  • Self-pay
  • Most commercial insurances

Service is never denied because of inability to pay.

We believe education can have a positive impact on pregnancy prevention and sexual health.  In addition to family planning services, our reproductive health team provides educational programs for:

  • Schools
  • youth groups
  • Community groups
  • Guidance counselors
  • Clergy
  • Parents and other groups
