At LRMC, residents get real clinical experience from day one. With 782 clinical hours, our program is built around hands-on training in a community health setting — giving you the breadth and depth to practice with confidence.
Core Rotations
General Anesthesia — Hospital-Based
Residents gain hospital-based experience in general anesthesia, including training in surgical environments and management of medically complex patients.
Family Medicine
Interdisciplinary rotations with LRMC’s family medicine team provide a broader view of patient care and reinforce the connection between oral health and overall well-being.
Clinical Objectives
Through clinical training, resident will:
- Perform comprehensive oral exams and full-mouth assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans for diverse patient needs
- Provide evidence-based, multidisciplinary dental care
- Manage medically complex patients with confidence
- Apply preventive care strategies and oral health education
- Collaborate with specialists and interprofessional teams
- Deliver care in both outpatient and hospital-based settings
- Complete emergency and urgent dental care
- Gain experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
- Build proficiency in practice management and quality improvement

- Pediatric dentistry — care for children, including patients with special needs
- Community outreach — mobile dental care through Miles for Smiles
- Ongoing assessment and feedback from faculty mentors throughout the program
